Ingredients

Serves : 6
  • 4 cups plain flour


  • 1 3/4 cups milk


  • 14 gms dry yeast


  • 100 gms unsalted butter(melted)


  • 1/3 cups castor sugar


  • 4 nos eggs


  • 1/2 tsp salt


  • 150 ml oil


  • 1 cups castor suga(for dusting)


  • 1/2 cups strawberry jam or filling

Directions

  • Warm the milk slightly and Set aside half a cup and add yeast.
  • Warming the milk is is to activate the yeast. Leave this to foam.
  • In a bowl, whisk the remainder of the milk with the sugar, eggs and butter.
  • Whisk in the yeast mixture and gradually mix in the flour and salt.
  • Place the batter in a warm place covered with a cling film.
  • Separate the dough into donut shaped balls/ squares. Deep fry these in oil.
  • Remove the donuts from the oil and drain on kitchen paper.
  • Roll warm donuts in caster sugar. Poke a hole in them with a sharp knife and pipe in some strawberry jam.
  • Icing done - icing sugar with your choice of colours.
